Lonnie, Carolyn & Carrie Robertson

This Member Spotlight is dedicated to Lonnie, Carolyn and Carrie Robertson. A true motorcycle family with Carrie being Local 34's youngest member.

I have been a FORR member four years now, Carolyn three years and Carrie two years.
I started riding at age twelve, got my motorcycle license as soon as I turned 16 and have not been without a bike for more than a few months.

"I'm as normal as the girl next door, but I'm "that biker chick" riding the loud Harley, loving every minute of it"

Carolyn rode with me a little but was never thrilled about the back part of the seat.

I convinced her she could ride a bike of her own, no little feat, and got her to riding on the lawn on my VZ 800 Suzuki.  She got some confidence and got on the road pretty quick.  Carolyn credits the MSF Beginner's Course with really boosting her confidence.  She rode the VZ 800 for a year, The "BEAST", a sportster based bike I built, and a 77 Sportster we customized together for another year.  Both of those Sportsters were beautiful bikes but I was constantly worrying about the old technology and Carolyn did not feel comfortable with taking off by herself on them for fear of not being able to start them.  Anyone with an old Sportster can relate to that one.  This summer we got the bike Carolyn had been waiting for, a 2005 883L.

Carolyn had wanted to wait for a 102 year Harley because her father's heart transplant number had been 102. She is very happy with the bike and should get along well with it for years to come. I have rode the 883L a few times myself and can tell you the new technology makes it a very sweet ride.

Carrie is twelve now and has been riding with me since she was about three.  As all of you who come to the FORR 34 organized rides know, Carrie can put in a 200 mile day and come out smiling at the end.  She truly enjoys getting to be a part of FORR and getting to play with the big boys and girls.

Carrie got her own bike about 15 months ago.  She likes riding her bike almost as much as I do.  We are keeping the VZ 800 with the thought that some day Carrie will be ready ride beside her mom and I.
